The Brand Guide

The grove, the torch, and the path out of the cave — the visual and verbal vocabulary that carries Quaerere Verum across everything we make. Modern in form, classical in meaning.

Modern form, classical meaning.

01 · Brand Essence

What the Grove Is

Before a single color or font, the brand is an idea: a place of fearless inquiry, where learners discover the truth for themselves. Three words hold it together.

🔍

Inquiry

We don't hand over conclusions. We light the way and let the learner discover the principle — the why before the what. The brand should always feel like an invitation to seek, not a lecture.

🌿

Rootedness

Twenty-four centuries of tradition stand behind the grove. The brand carries that weight with calm authority — classical substance, never costume or kitsch.

🔥

Ascent

Everything rises: roots to branches, swamp to stars, cave to light. The brand always carries a sense of upward movement, of climbing toward something luminous.

02 · The Mark

The Logo

One emblem holds the entire thesis: ancient roots feeding living inquiry, the tree of knowledge that is also a circuit, crowned by the flame of Prometheus.

Plato's Grove logo — a luminous tree of branches and circuitry rising from roots into a golden flame, with the wordmark Plato's Grove and motto Quaerere Verum

How to Read It

The roots read as both olive roots and circuit traces — the classical and the technological, fused at the foundation.
The branches spread as a living tree and a neural network at once — knowledge growing and connecting.
The flame at the heart is the torch of Prometheus — the fire of learning, carried and passed on.
The wordmark and motto in warm gold seal the mark: Plato's Grove · Quaerere Verum.

✓ Do

  • Give the logo room to breathe — keep clear space around it equal to the flame's height.
  • Present it on deep indigo, on paper cream, or in a circular crop with a thin gold ring.
  • Let it glow gently on dark backgrounds; it is a source of light.
  • Use it generously — header, hero, footer, and as a recurring seal.

✕ Don't

  • Don't recolor the mark or flatten its gradient into a single tone.
  • Don't place it on busy photographs or clashing colors that fight its gold.
  • Don't stretch, skew, rotate, or add drop-shadows beyond the soft glow.
  • Don't pair it with literal ancient ornament — columns, scrolls, laurel clip-art.
03 · Color

The Palette

A grove at dusk, lit by a torch. Deep indigo night, olive and sage of the living grove, the warm amber and gold of the flame, and cream paper beneath the words.

The Five Ages — Accent Sequence

Used to color-code the curriculum and projects matrices. The sequence is itself a climb — olive swamp to violet stars — and should never revert to a generic rainbow.

04 · Typography

The Type System

Two typefaces, one principle: a classical serif for meaning and a modern sans for clarity. The serif speaks; the sans informs.

Display & Headings
Cormorant Garamond · serif
Quaerere Verum
From the swamp to the stars
Atque inter silvas Academi quaerere verum

Used for all headings, the wordmark, and every Latin or Greek phrase. Italic carries the classical voice. Weights 400–700.

Body & Interface
Inter · sans-serif
Learning by discovery.
An academy built on induction — guiding students from the swamp to the stars through hands-on projects and the best of modern educational technology.
Light · Regular · Medium · Semibold · Bold

Used for all body text, navigation, labels, and buttons. Clean and quiet, so the serif and the ideas carry the voice. Weights 300–700.

05 · The Symbol System

Grove, Torch, Path

Three symbols carry the whole narrative of the brand. They are a sequence, not a set — and the order is the meaning.

🌳
Silva — the grove

The Grove

Home and sanctuary. The place of inquiry, rooted and alive. Use it for belonging, foundation, and the academy itself.

🔥
Ignis — the fire

The Torch

Teaching and transmission — the flame of Prometheus, passed hand to hand. Use it for the act of learning, the spark, the breakthrough.

🌄
Via — the way

The Path Out of the Cave

The learning journey itself — from shadow toward light. Use it for progress, growth, and the student's ascent.

In the grove, we light the torch · and walk out of the cave.

06 · Brand Voice

How the Grove Speaks

Elevated but warm. Confident but never boastful. The voice of a wise, generous teacher who respects the learner's intelligence and invites them upward.

Elevated, not stuffy

We reach for the right word and the resonant image, but we never hide behind jargon. Clarity is a form of respect.

Confident, not boastful

We let evidence and substance speak. We state what is true plainly and let the reader draw the conclusion.

Inviting, not lecturing

The voice opens a door. It poses the question and walks beside the reader rather than talking down to them.

Honest, not hyped

We distinguish what is known from what we interpret, and we never overpromise. Truth-seeking begins with telling the truth.

✓ Sounds like the grove

"Students don't read about the trebuchet — they build one. Understanding earned this way holds."

✕ Doesn't

"Our revolutionary, world-class, cutting-edge program is the best educational solution available anywhere!"

07 · The Lexicon

Words & Phrases

The recurring language of the brand. Set Latin in Cormorant italic; always pair it with a plain-English meaning the first time it appears on a page.
